How to measure
Measure the patio or path in square feet and enter the visible face dimensions of one paver in inches. Sketch edge cuts and the laying pattern. Your manufacturer may specify pieces per square foot for its recommended joint.
Formula and assumptions
Pieces = ceiling(area in sq ft ÷ (width in inches × length in inches ÷ 144) × (1 + cut allowance / 100)).
Worked example
For 270 sq ft with 4 × 8 inch pavers and 10% waste, the estimate is 1,337 pieces.
Before you buy
This estimate ignores joints and laying pattern. Confirm the manufacturer's pieces per square foot and pallet quantities.
Is this a structural patio design?
No. The tool only estimates surface pieces. Base preparation, drainage, load and local requirements need separate assessment.
