How to measure
Measure the long and short sides of the space. Identify the roll width your supplier sells and the pile direction you want. Keep neighboring strips oriented the same way to avoid a visible color difference.
Formula and assumptions
Lengthwise strips = ceiling(area width ÷ roll width); strip area = strips × roll width × area length; compare with area plus cut allowance.
Worked example
For a 20 × 13 ft area and a 13 ft roll width, one 20 ft strip uses 260 sq ft before extra cuts.
Before you buy
The result is a planning minimum. Seams, pile direction, available roll lengths and offcuts need a layout check.
Does the estimate include seams?
It estimates material area from whole-width strips and an allowance. Seaming tape, infill and an exact cutting diagram are separate.
